Rutherfurd’s novels all follow a very similar format they each tell the story of several families who live in one particular country, city or region over a period of many years. His first novel, Sarum, was published in 1987, and since then he has written seven others, with a new one expected in 2019. For the last few months, I have been looking at the work of some of my favourite historical fiction authors having previously featured Elizabeth Chadwick and Anya Seton, this month it’s the turn of a very different author: Edward Rutherfurd.Įdward Rutherfurd is the pseudonym of Francis Edward Wintle, born in Salisbury, England in 1948.
